I am very impressed with the service and care from all personal at Oakmont Advanced Dentistry. From the moment I entered the office for my 6-month cleaning/exam, I was greeted by friendly receptionist, and then taken to exam room by technician, who was very pleasant. She explained what she was going to do (X-rays) and was very careful while doing so. The hygienist was excellent! She was so careful and meticulous with cleaning, being careful not to damage the gum tissue. I met the dentist who was most welcoming and did a great exam, and made recommendations and explained them. When I left, all office staff in front were so nice, and I told them how impressed I was with the way the office was run. Highly recommend!
If you are like a lot of us, you’ve got more Halloween candy around your house than you would probably like. At this time of year, you also may be looking forward to a delicious Thanksgiving meal with family and friends.
We know we enjoy dining on ham or turkey that has been baking for hours. We enjoy stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, and so much more. We won’t get started on the desserts.
Yes, Thanksgiving can be a fun day to feast … unless you are missing teeth. Even with dentures, you may find that you have to avoid putting some of your favorites on your plate.
You should have to do that. You should be able to eat anything you would like during Thanksgiving, the rest of the holiday season, and any time of the year.
At Oakmont Advanced Dentistry, we have something that can help. Dental implants can secure your replacement teeth so you can eat (and speak). Call 412-206-6825 to discover what we can do for you and your bite at our Oakmont, PA dentist office.
Eat Without Worry
Few things are as satisfying as those first few bites of your favorite foods. Whether you dig into hot, buttered corn on the cob or the sweet flavor of a caramel apple, you want to trust that your teeth will stay in your mouth before you take a bite, however.
People who have traditional dentures often learn the hard way how unstable those replacements can be. Sure, they may fit great when you first get them. But over time, dentures have a tendency to become looser and to slide around more inside your mouth. Using a denture adhesive can help to a degree, but that has its own drawbacks. Many patients have complained to us that their adhesives change the flavor of the foods they eat. Besides, adhesives wash away, which means any benefits they provide are only temporary.
By getting implant-supported dentures, you can do something life-changing. At least, that’s what our patients have told us. Implants offer security and stability that you can’t get with an adhesive.
With implants, you can bite with confidence that you won’t lose your smile in the process. You can also chew without worrying that it will feel like a chore by the end of your meal.
Make Your Dentures Stronger
By replacing the roots of your missing teeth, you create a direct connection from your dentures to your jawbone. Implants anchor your replacement teeth in your jaw, which is why they feel stable without any need for adhesives.
Implant-supported dentures look like natural teeth, but more importantly, the function practically as well as real teeth, too. Studies how shown that people with implant-supported dentures can bite with 80 percent or more of the bite force of people with a full set of healthy teeth. Compare that to the 20 to 25 percent of biting power you can restore with traditional dentures.
This is why someone with implants can feel confident about eating anything they want at Thanksgiving or any other time of year.
