I have wanted to be a dentist my entire life. I got interested in it at around the age of 12. My former partner, Doctor Nader, was my dentist for about 47 years, and I went to school with some of his kids and grew up around him, and I just always found his work fascinating, working with people, working with my hands, and I was just drawn to it. It was never like a lightning strike, where I had to be a dentist, just an interest that I always had, and stuck with it, and am fortunate to realize that dream.
Grew up, City College graduate, and went on to University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Fantastic experience for me and a great dental school. I have done 1,300 hours’ worth of continuing education after dental school. My motto is, “I want to be better tomorrow than I was today,”
and that revolves around learning more. The more you learn, the more you can help patients, the more you can offer them. They have requests of things they’d like me to do, and always interested in being a lifelong student. Keeps the profession very interesting for me.
The dentistry becomes second nature, but just the relationships that I’ve formed with my patients and my staff, over the years, has been super rewarding. I love taking somebody. I have a review recently. For a couple years, we’ve been treating sleep apnea. I have sleep apnea. I had a guy write me a review and tell me that I saved his life, literally.
We got him tested for sleep apnea and he had significant apnea and was being treated. Those relationships are invaluable to me.
