I am very impressed with the service and care from all personal at Oakmont Advanced Dentistry. From the moment I entered the office for my 6-month cleaning/exam, I was greeted by friendly receptionist, and then taken to exam room by technician, who was very pleasant. She explained what she was going to do (X-rays) and was very careful while doing so. The hygienist was excellent! She was so careful and meticulous with cleaning, being careful not to damage the gum tissue. I met the dentist who was most welcoming and did a great exam, and made recommendations and explained them. When I left, all office staff in front were so nice, and I told them how impressed I was with the way the office was run. Highly recommend!
National Fresh Breath Day on August 6 is a great reminder that fresh breath shouldn’t depend on the nearest breath mint. While many people treat unpleasant breath as a temporary inconvenience, recurring odor often has a reason behind it. Instead of simply hiding the problem, consider using this year’s observance to focus on knowing why your breath may have changed and what you can do about it.
Temporary Odors Aren’t the Same as Ongoing Ones
Everyone experiences bad breath occasionally. A spicy lunch, an early morning before breakfast, or a long afternoon without drinking water can all leave your mouth feeling less than fresh. Those situations are usually short-lived.
When bad breath keeps returning, however, it’s worth paying attention. A persistent odor may indicate that something in your oral environment isn’t working as it should. That doesn’t necessarily mean a serious problem exists, but it does mean your smile deserves a closer look.
Your Mouth Is Always Changing
Your oral health changes throughout the day. The foods you eat, the amount of water you drink, your medications, and even how you sleep can influence your breath.
At the same time, your teeth, gums, tongue, and saliva all work together to keep your mouth healthy. When one part of that system is disrupted, unpleasant odors may become more noticeable.
That’s why persistent bad breath rarely has a one-size-fits-all explanation.
A Personalized Approach Makes the Difference
Searching online can produce dozens of possible causes for bad breath, but every patient is different. A dental examination allows your provider to evaluate your individual situation instead of relying on general advice.
Your dentist can identify concerns such as gum disease, tooth decay, excessive plaque buildup, dry mouth, or other oral conditions that may be contributing to recurring odors. Professional cleanings and personalized recommendations are designed to address the actual source rather than simply covering it up.
Celebrate National Fresh Breath Day with Confidence
National Fresh Breath Day is an opportunity to move beyond guessing. Understanding what’s happening in your mouth is the first step toward healthier breath and better oral health.
